Shade Cover Plans for Victoria Bridge Pathway

Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner announced this week that shade cover will be added to the Victoria Bridge pathway, an important connector between the City and South Bank.

Also announced was the decluttering of the Queen Street Mall which will ensure travelling between the City and South Bank will be vibrant, seamless and accessible.

From Monday 8 May, outbound Stop 3 on Melbourne Street at Cordelia Street will be closed to assist with works on the Brisbane Metro Project at Cultural Centre Station.

Routes 192, 196 or 199 which currently use this stop can be caught from Stop 4 on Melbourne Street, approximately 150m from the current stops.

Mater Opens New Perinatal Mental Health Centre

Mater has officially opened Catherine’s House for Mothers, Babies and Families, Queensland’s first integrated perinatal mental health centre.

The centre is located in the refurbished Sisters of Mercy convent in South Brisbane and will provide support to parents who experience mental health challenges.

South Bank Corporation will be upgrading Grey Street (between Vulture Street and Russell Street) including footpaths, road crossings and lighting, and planting of new sub-tropical plants.

Works will commence in mid April Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm and completed by late July 2023.

Residential Height Limits to be Increased in South Brisbane

Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner announced today that heights for residential buildings in part of the South Brisbane area may be increased to levels equivalent to the CBD.

The announcement forms part of council’s Brisbane Sustainable Growth Strategy proposing to add approx. 10,000 dwellings to the housing market.
