Griffith University Queensland College of Art Student Unveils Exhibition at Queensland Museum

Queensland College of ArtĀ student and teacher at Queensland Conservatorium has created an interactive installation ‘Omnipresence’ to be unveiled at Queensland Museum.Ā Ā The installation is social media-friendly and allows viewers to see themselves reflected back in various incarnations and ‘interact’ with reflections of previous visitors through a giant infinity mirror.

Omnipresence opens at the Queensland Museum on Monday 10 August and runs until 5 October.

Brisbane Festival has released theirĀ Boldly BrisbaneĀ Program for 2020. The debut Program from Artistic DirectorĀ Louise Bezzina reaches all 190 suburbs of the city andĀ includesĀ over 700 local artists, 490 performances with giant outdoor installations,Ā intimate street concerts andĀ suburban symphonies.

Although Sunsuper Riverfire will not proceed this year, aĀ new light and laser installation is scheduled to light up the Brisbane Sky every Friday and Saturday during the month of September.

South Bank will be home to many events such as, Socially Distanced Dance Club, Wild Energy, Jazz on Sundays, Arc and performances at QPAC.

New Performing Arts Venue:

Lendlease have set up site facilities and the footpath surrounding the QPAC Playhouse Green on Grey and Russell Streets will be closed to pedestrians.

World’s Greenest Residential Building Proposed For South Brisbane

Local developer, ARIA Property Group, has submitted a proposal to Brisbane City Council to build the world’s greenest residential building on the corner of Merivale and Glenelg St.

The building named ā€œThe Urban Forestā€ features 382 apartments; over 1,000 trees, over 20,000 plants; and a new public 1,350m2 public park at the base of the building.

The public park follows a similar theme to ARIA’s Fish Lane Town Square redevelopment. ARIA’s proposal also brings to life elements of BSB’s Vision South BankĀ Report of creating a ā€œgreen spine’’ along Glenelg Street linking Musgrave Park to South Bank Parklands.

ARIA has developed numerous award-winning residential buildings in the precinct including The Melbourne Residences, Oxley +Stirling, Botanica Residences and the Fish Lane precinct.

Tourism and event businesses can get involved with the campaign after completingĀ one of the following requirements (1) All required COVID Safe Planning documentationĀ (2)Ā Completed ATIC’s COVIDĀ Clean Practising Business moduleĀ (3)Ā Completed the Australian Tourism Export Council’s COVID Ready program

Once businesses have completed one of the requirements they can get involved by:

  • Displaying theĀ ‘Good to Go’ stampĀ as well as use theĀ Style Guide.

  • Update (or create) yourĀ ATDW listingĀ – with holiday deals, refreshed images and up-to-date content about your business.

BSB Member Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC)Ā  has announced they will be reopening in August 2020 following the approval by Queensland Health of its Site Specific COVID Safe Plan.

A newly developed BCEC Safe Event Guideline has been prepared and will assist clients in planning their events at the Centre and encompasses all the necessary health and hygiene safeguards, food safety measures and social distancing required under the current opening conditions.Ā  The Guideline is designed to ensure the safe hosting of events, providing reassurance and confidence for the Centre’s patrons and staff.

The Centre is planning to host its first events from August 2020, with the health and wellbeing of our clients, patrons and staff a top priority.
