Brisbane EDA has recently opened Brisbane Business Hub – a physical and digital space for businesses in Brisbane to find advice and learn the skills to sustain and grow their business – across all industries.

Brisbane businesses will be able to access a range of complimentary services, tools and resources. From workshops, webinars and 1:1 mentoring to online learning, business checks and educations resources.

Under the State Government’s Stage 4 COVID-19 restrictions capacity at the three South Bank Parklands pools will increase.

Streets Beach will double to 500 swimmers, the Aquativity water-play park will increase to accommodate 200 swimmers, and 200 swimmers will be allowed at The Boat Pool.

However, changerooms and showers will remain closed at South Bank Parklands and social distancing of 1.5 metres will remain in place for the sanded areas of Streets Beach.

Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) held a media call to launch and celebrate Queensland’s major performing arts companies returning to live performances at QPAC. From September to December QPAC will be filled with performances from BSB members, Opera Queensland, Queensland Ballet, Queensland Symphony Orchestra and Queensland Theatre.

Brisbane International Film Festival launches next Thursday 1 October – Sunday 11 October. Across 11 days, BIFF celebrates contemporary international and Australian screen culture with new release features and documentaries, short programs and retrospectives, alongside screenings with live music, conversations, panel discussions and more.

BIFF is presented by the Australian Cinémathèque at QAGOMA with events also at State Library of Queensland.

GOMA to Present European Masterpieces from the Met in 2021

Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) will be the exclusive Australian venue for the major exhibition ‘European Masterpieces from The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York’, opening at GOMA 12 Jun – 17 Oct 2021.

Curated by The Met in New York in consultation with QAGOMA, the exhibition will feature 65 paintings charting Western art history’s most iconic movements and will also include works by Titian, Raphael, Goya, Vermeer, Cézanne, Monet, van Gogh, Rembrandt and others. The Met’s collection – one of the finest collections of European painting in the world, the majority of which rarely leave permanent display in New York.

South Bank Riverwalk Closed Until 2021 for Repairs

South Bank Riverwalk Closed Until 2021 for Repairs

The Cultural Centre Riverwalk, which runs from Victoria Bridge and goes behind the museums and galleries to Kurlipa Bridge is now closed for repairs and is expected to be completed mid 2021.

Works will generally be undertaken between 6.30am and 5pm Monday to Friday, however some works may also be required between 6.30am and 5pm on Saturdays.

The pedestrian detour will run along Melbourne Street, Grey Street and Stanley Place while cyclists will travel through the Cultural Centre tunnel and Stanley Place.
