Earlier Start Times for Free Bus Loop Service

From Monday 18 September, the free bus loop service (Route 86) will start earlier in the day. The service will start at 7am Monday to Friday, and 8am on weekends.

The bus loop trial will also be extended for an additional 6 months to mid-2024.

Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner announced this week that shade cover will be added to the Victoria Bridge pathway, an important connector between the City and South Bank.

Also announced was the decluttering of the Queen Street Mall which will ensure travelling between the City and South Bank will be vibrant, seamless and accessible.

Residential Height Limits to be Increased in South Brisbane

Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner announced today that heights for residential buildings in part of the South Brisbane area may be increased to levels equivalent to the CBD.

The announcement forms part of council’s Brisbane Sustainable Growth Strategy proposing to add approx. 10,000 dwellings to the housing market.

Newest Pedestrian Bridge to South Bank Now Complete

Following two years of construction, the final deck section of The Neville Bonner Bridge has been installed. The bridge will open to the public with the Queen’s Wharf Development end of 2023.

Around 10,000 people a day are expected to cross the river via Neville Bonner Bridge to South Bank.
