Construction of the final stage of the Riverside Open Space project will start Friday 7 February. Located next to the rainforest green, it will be transformed into a new public recreation area with new landscaping, shaded area with seating and barbecue facilities, public art and riverside rest and lookout area.

Timings and construction impacts
Works will take place from Monday to Friday from 7am to 5pm. The lawn area and some seating will be closed during the works. The playground will remain open.

Traffic control will be in place to assist with vehicle movements, with all vehicles accessing the site via Russell Street and then travelling along the promenade. The final stage of works are due for completion in early 2021.

The Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre continues to lead the way in sustainability with the installation of 764 solar panels with 309.42 kilowatt solar systems which is expected to supply 40% of the energy demand from the operation of the Centre’s BCEC on Grey Street venue.

They have also recently installed energy saving LED lighting system for the Centre’s Exhibition Halls, Concourse and Car Park equipped with bluetooth smart lighting control facilitating daylight harvesting.

BCEC managed by ASM Global on behalf of South Bank Corporation, already has EarthCheck Gold accreditation from the world’s most recognised environmental benchmarking program and is on track to receive Platinum Certification in 2020.

Design of New Hospital Ward Unveiled at Queensland Children’s Hospital

Queensland Children’s Hospital has unveiled the design of the new 29-bed ward. The brand-new ward was designed in close consultation with patients, families and staff ensuring the space is both fit for clinical purposes, children and is family-friendly.

In addition to the new ward, the hospital will gain another 6 oncology beds. Both the additional oncology beds and new ward on Level 12 of are expected to be available from late-2020.

The Prop House and VM+ team have also contributed to design changes at the hospital, by redesigning the Kidszone to a space where children and families can come to play rest, learn, read and create.

The design which is based on metamorphosis included bespoke wall graphics, ‘sheltering tree, tailored flooring and a secret cubby.

Brisbane Metro Update – Preliminary Works Begins 2020

Preliminary works for Brisbane Metro will commence around the Cultural Centre in January 2020.

The Council will examine a possible new $91 million tunnel that would connect West End to CBD bus services and bypass the intersection of Melbourne and Grey.

The proposed tunnel would allow the creation of a new QPAC and Museum public square and green space.

Brisbane Marketing has launched its new campaign – Nothing’s Changed. Everything’s Different, a new integrated campaign designed to drive visitation and increased visitor spend in Brisbane.

The campaign will run until mid-December, with the television commercial live from today along with outdoor, print and digital executions around the Brisbane region.
