South Bank businesses and visitors will see increased construction activity and changed traffic conditions as work ramps up on several projects in South Brisbane.

To enable the delivery of construction materials to the New Performing Arts Venue project, site semi-trailers (including wide-load vehicles) will travel along Grey Street to and from the construction site at the corner of Grey and Russell Streets.

Truck movements will occur during the regular construction hours of 6:30am – 6:30pm, however some haulage will occur:

  • 4am to 6am, Monday 19 October until Friday 23 October 2020.

  • 4am to 6am, Monday 26 October until Friday 30 October 2020.

Road Closures Around the Gabba:
Full and partial road closures will be in place around the Gabba from 1pm on Saturday 24 Oct including full  closure of Stanley and Vulture Street. Under the State Government’s Stage 4 COVID-19 restrictions capacity at the three South Bank Parklands pools will increase.

Streets Beach will double to 500 swimmers, the Aquativity water-play park will increase to accommodate 200 swimmers, and 200 swimmers will be allowed at The Boat Pool.

However, changerooms and showers will remain closed at South Bank Parklands and social distancing of 1.5 metres will remain in place for the sanded areas of Streets Beach.

Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) held a media call to launch and celebrate Queensland’s major performing arts companies returning to live performances at QPAC. From September to December QPAC will be filled with performances from BSB members, Opera Queensland, Queensland Ballet, Queensland Symphony Orchestra and Queensland Theatre.
