Brisbane Metro Project Possible Changes

It was announced yesterday that there may be changes to the Brisbane Metro Project and in particular changes to the proposed Cultural Centre Station.

The Cultural Centre Station was originally designed to be located under Grey Street, between the South Brisbane Train Station and QPAC and could now be relocated to under Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.

BSB will keep members informed of changes as the information becomes available.

Griffith University Film School alumni are going global with their hit TV show Bluey set to screen internationally on Disney Junior and Disney+.

Conceived by Griffith Film animation alumni Joe Brumm and Emmy award winning Ludo Studio’s which is co-founded by fellow Griffith Film School alumnus Daley Person.

With the series made here in Brisbane, Griffith Graduates make up more than half of the Bluey workforce.

After 15 months of excavation, Queen’s Wharf Brisbane has now begun with the first concrete pour.

This is a significant occasion for the development as it is the start of construction for The Star Grand Hotel, one of the four hotels for Queen’s Wharf Brisbane integrated resort development.

QPAC New Theatre Design Released

The concept design for the new theatre at Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) was unveiled this week. Architect Blight Rayner +  Snøhetta will deliver a new world-class facility with a glass facade, two new studio spaces, transparent foyer spaces, and single balcony auditorium delivering enhanced audience sight lines.

The theatre is expected to deliver capacity for an extra 260 performances annually, making QPAC the largest performing arts centre in Australia. Early works are expected to commence 2020 for completion in 2022.

On the 28th of March Business South Bank was joined by special guests, out-going Lord Mayor Graham Quirk and The Hon. Jackie Trad, Deputy Premier and Member for South Brisbane and over 200 lunch guests to celebrate its 20th Anniversary.

Highlight of the event was a flash mob, courtesy of Griffith University Queensland Conservatorium handing out certificates to long standing members to the tune of Prince’s 1999.
