Griffith University Showcases Art at Curiocity Festival

Griffith University has created three immersive art installations on display atĀ South BankĀ from now until 28 March as part of Curiocity Festival. It includes ‘The Immersive Guitar’, ‘The Chatterbox’ and ‘James the Rat King eXperience’.

The artworks have been created as part of a multi-disciplinary collaboration from lecturers from Queensland Conservatorium Research, Griffith Sciences,Ā QCA, Queensland Conservatorium and Griffith Film School.

Brisbane City Council is buildingĀ new green bridgesĀ in the precinct, fromĀ Toowong to West End and St Lucia to West End.Ā The bridgesĀ will be for pedestrian and cyclists only.

Council is now seeking community feedback on the proposed alignment options and landing locations.Ā  Consultation is open until Ā 29 January 2021.

Victoria Bridge to Permanently Close to General Traffic

Victoria Bridge will be permanently closed to general traffic fromĀ 24 January 2021Ā to facilitate both the Brisbane Metro project and Citylink Cycleway trail.

This forms part of Brisbane City Council’s strategic direction to reduce congestion in the city and improve public and active transport connections.

Citylink Cycleway is a new separated two-way bikeway, separating vehicles and cyclists. The trial will be implemented in stages including:

  • Victoria Bridge, connecting William St & Grey St
  • Elizabeth St, between William and Creek Streets
  • Edward St, between Elizabeth and Alice Streets
  • Albert St, between Alice and Mary Streets
