The Queensland Government has progressed plans to transform the Gabba into a large scale entertainment and housing precinct, including a new 17,000-seat indoor arena for world class concerts, sporting events and major entertainment events.

Site preparation works are now underway, including geotechnical drilling to test ground conditions to support foundation designs for the new arena.

Two proponents have been shortlisted to develop the new precinct, with the successful proponent to be announced later this year and construction starting in the first half of 2027.
