Professor Scott Harrison is currently Pro Vice Chancellor (Arts, Education and Law) at Griffith University, having previously served as Director, Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University from 2013 to 2019.

He entered the higher education sector following a dual career in education and performing arts and has performance experience in opera and music theatre as both singer and musical director. He is an internationally acclaimed scholar in the realms of musical theatre and masculinities. He is the recipient of grants in the areas of pedagogy, music and health and employability. He has authored several books in these domains. His latest book on musical theatre education and training will be published by Routledge (New York) in 2022. Scott is a past President of the Australian National Association of Teachers of Singing. In 2010 he won and a national award for Learning and Teaching and in 2012 he became a National Learning and Teaching Fellow.

Scott received his undergraduate degree from Queensland Conservatorium, and he has master’s degrees in higher education and music. He was awarded his PhD in 2004.

His current portfolio includes leadership of Griffith University’s Arts, Education and Law portfolio which encompasses the disciplines of education, criminology, law, music, performing arts, visual arts, film, design, humanities, languages, and social science. He is head of Griffith University’s South Bank campus.
