Name and position?
Jenny O’Neill, Branch Manager

Tell us about your business/organisation?
Unitemps Griffith is a comprehensive recruitment service based within Griffith University, providing staffing solutions for business and paid employment for students and graduates. From one-off casual projects to ongoing full time roles, we help small to large organisations fill skill gaps in their workforce and future-proof their business. We handle everything from initial consultation through screening and shortlisting to interviews and payroll. We offer special, discounted rates to Business South Bank members.

What is your role at your organisation?
I manage a talented, dedicated team of Recruitment Consultants and employment staff. I look after employer relationships to ensure we deliver excellent service and find the right staffing fit for our business colleagues and excellent career opportunities for our students and graduates.

What are your key skills and responsibilities?
I have a background that spans many and varied industries including over 20 years’ experience in Recruitment, Employment and Management. My industry experience (arts, creative industries, small business, community sector and more) helps me to understand our clients’ needs, as diverse as they are.

How many people work at your business?
Unitemps Griffith has six staff operating from Brisbane to the Gold Coast, including two Griffith graduates.

What is your favourite place in the precinct?
I love working at the Queensland College of Art on Fridays. Catching a City Cat to South Bank and walking through the arbour of bougainvillea along the river or beautiful Little Stanley Street is a luxury I wouldn’t find elsewhere.

What do you want BSB members to know about you or your business?
Unitemps Griffith stands on the pillars of Quality, Ethics and Community. Unlike other recruitment agencies our staff do not work on commission and all revenue earned in reinvested into the University. We listen to the unique needs of each local business to suggest solutions and source the right candidates for their specific situations. With so many talented students at our fingertips, we are ready to tackle any request.

What is something people wouldn’t know about your business?
Griffith was the first university in Australia to start a Unitemps agency in 2016. We are part of a global network of franchises, originating in the UK.

What has recently happened at your organisation?
We have recently filled roles in Marketing, Social Media, IT, Events, Hospitality, Focus Groups, Financial Planning, Accounting, Environment, Engineering, Tutoring, Copywriting, Translation, Graphic Design, Multimedia, Film and Photography.

What have you learnt lately?
I’ve learnt that businesses aren’t always aware of the range and scope of talent our University can offer. We have a talent pool of 50,000 students at our five campuses in South-East Queensland, studying a huge range of degrees and specialisations.

What do you hope to achieve in your industry?
I hope to place as many people as I can into satisfying employment and positively influence as many careers as I can before (and perhaps after) I retire.

What inspires you?
Truly successful people inspire me. This has nothing to do with how much money they have made but the positive legacy they have left society.

What are your words of wisdom?
If you truly believe in what you do, treat all people and transactions with honesty and integrity and live your life with passion, you have not wasted your time.
