April 12, 2018 – Community, Events, Featured

During the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, the South Bank precinct will experience an increased demand on transport networks, creating challenges for those travelling to and from the precinct. There will also be a range of cultural activities and festival zones that will further increase demand.

South Bank will experience increased traffic for the Gold Coast train lines and for the 222 bus route. To support the influx of traffic, the frequency of route 222 services will increase during the Games, connecting with games shuttle buses at Carindale bus station.

There will also be a rise of traffic in both directions on the M1. It is recommended for those travelling to and from South Bank to plan ahead or to use public transport to get to South Bank.

Expected peak periods of traffic will be:
Before events:  6.30am–9am
During events:  Midday
After events:     3.30pm–7pm, and around 10pm
